Nursing in a Pandemic: The Six Forms of Courage

We love all of our clients, but we particularly love it when they are 100% passionate about what they do and the changes they want to make in the world.

The Florence Nightingale Foundation has been providing scholarships to the best nurses and midwives in the UK since 1929. These nurses and midwives then make a difference in patient care, policy and practice in their chosen fields.

The Nightingale Frontline Leadership Programme

While this wasn’t a research project, the Foundation felt that the themes arising from it were important and should be shared more widely.

In facilitated (but socially distanced) workgroups, six forms of courage were highlighted – enacted by nurses and midwives at all levels of the organisation – which facilitated a move away from command and control and towards a more collective leadership.

Testimonial

“This is wonderful; thank you so much. Thank you also for going the extra mile for us. It has been a joy! The animation is being received so positively and I am over the moon with the impact it is having. We have used it to initiate conversations with the big leaders, so we are hopeful it will help our message to have a huge influence.“
