The Royal College of General Practitioners

Since we started making short films, as specialists in health and social care communications we have created several explainers and whiteboard animations for the RCGP.

Empowering Women: Women’s Health in General Practice

The RCGP asked us to create an animation that they could use to inspire and empower women and GPs to feel more comfortable in discussing and reporting symptoms and issues to do with menstruation – particularly in the time of COVID-19 when face-to-face meetings between women and their GPs have become rarer. This was in response to a number of government reports that showed that women were receiving inadequate care in this area and that things don’t seem to be changing very quickly.

Using animation, we were able to tell personal stories based on real-life accounts of women who suffered from endometriosis and a system that was ill-equipped to provide the kind of care they need, without endangering their anonymity.

Testimonial

“We chose CC Animation Studio because they have a solid history of handling difficult to talk about topics in an intelligent and sensitive way. We were impressed by the work that they did around children and dementia, FGM and the CQC report into sexual health and sexual safety in care homes. We definitely chose right the right company. They listened, were professional, knowledgeable and pleasant to work with, the entire project ran like clockwork.”

Physical Activity and Lifestyle Project

The Lifestyle Toolkit

The Lifestyle Toolkit has been designed by the RCGP in partnership with Sport England, to be used by primary care professionals in the UK. Any healthcare professional concerned about their own activity levels may find the toolkit useful –it is designed to have something for all clinicians, enabling them to quickly browse the reference section or explore certain resources in more detail.

We worked with Dr Zoe Williams, Dr Dane Vishnubala, Dr Andrew Boyd, and the rest of the Lifestyle Toolkit team to produce this humorous animation designed to encourage GPs to transform their practice into an active practice.

The artist on this project was Sarah Burgess.

Person-Centred and Personalised Care

Project background

The person-centred care approach gives people more choice and control in their lives by providing an approach that is appropriate to the individual's needs. It involves a conversation shift from asking 'What's the matter with you?' to 'What matters to you?'. It empowers patients to take an active role in managing their own health and well-being, working alongside the GP’s medical expertise and that of other professionals. It provides a positive shift in power and decision-making that enables people to have a voice, build knowledge, skills and confidence, and be connected to each other and their communities.

We worked on these films when this was a novel idea that was just starting to get purchase within the wider NHS. We like to think that they played a small part in spreading these ideas to the kinds of people who have since been able to put the ideas into practice through the NHS Long Term Plan.

The artist on this project was Ada Jusic.
