Here's what Alexandra had to say about working with a British institution!

“There are many projects that we work on here at CC Animation Studio that bring us a great sense of accomplishment and professional pride, but it is rare that we also get to fulfil a childhood dream at the same time!

Working on the Draw My Life animation for brand new Blue Peter presenter Mwaksy, had my inner 8-year-old jumping up and down with excitement, and producing content to be broadcast on the BBC definitely ticks a professional bucket list box.

The aim of the project was to introduce Mwaksy to the Blue Peter fans, showcasing some of her personality along with her life story.

Because she is such a bright and enthusiastic person, I chose a vibrate colour palette with a lot of patterned elements to give it extra movement and energy.

I also wanted to make sure that I truly captured her likeness. Luckily, she's a vlogger and so watching her films (and screenshotting a whole bunch) gave me plenty of source material to use and a folder full of great facial expressions to choose from. An extra element of this project was to record behind-the-scenes footage for a 'making of' section for the website, and also to be interviewed via Zoom by Mwaksy herself. It was a treat to actually get to 'meet' her and show her a sneak peek of the work I had been creating – getting to chat with her showed me that I was on the right track with the work I was making – even though she would not get to see more than a tiny glimpse before it was revealed to her live on the show.

I tuned in with homemade popcorn and my fingers crossed to see her reaction live with the nation's kids!

And yes, I was definitely wearing my Blue Peter Badge.”
