Norfolk Adults Safeguarding Board: The Herbert Protocol

Project background

This animation tells the story of George ‘Herbert’ Barns, after whom The Herbert Protocol is named, and looks at how vulnerable people can be supported to live independent lives safely.

Created in collaboration with Norfolk Adults Safeguarding Board, Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership, Norfolk Police and Suffolk Police.

Creating the animation

During his life, Herbert was known locally to be a real character. In creating this animation to tell his story, we included real local landmarks and illustrated Herbert based on photographs to capture his likeness and individuality.

The engaging storybook tone of the script was carried through to the visuals, where we used a digital ‘pop-up book’ style. This carries the viewer along with Herbert as we learn his story and how The Herbert Protocol has evolved over time.

Would you like a version of this animation to help the people in your area?

If you use The Herbert Protocol in your area, we can create a version of this explainer animation with an end slide featuring contact details for your organisation, thanks to the immense generosity of Norfolk Adults Safeguarding Board, Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership, Norfolk Police and Suffolk Police, who commissioned this animation.

Please get in touch with us to find out more about this service and the other animations we have available for re-badging.
