Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust: Allergies

This animation, along with our Diabetes animation, was awarded the prestigious 2024 Nursing Times Award for Children’s Services.

Project background

How do you explain allergies to kids?

With the help of the kids themselves!

We worked with school nurse Lisa Canade QN and the amazing children at Brackenbury Primary School and Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School to bring their vision to life.

Creating the animation

We made sure that Imogen, Ayana, Ty, Adam and Cooper were involved throughout the process, from scripting to storyboarding to voiceover, so that their lived experience is at the heart of this informative animation.

The animation was made with the support of Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and Shared Governance.

Some words from the Nursing Times:

“This initiative aims to create animated tools that highlight the voices and experiences of children with health conditions, fostering peer empathy and understanding. The judges welcomed the direct collaboration with young people on healthcare and said it demonstrates how creativity can amplify the voices of children in an inclusive way that could be transferable to many other areas. They also said it has the potential to be included in the school's national curriculum.”

Thank you, Nursing Times judges!
